The CF-CARD ELITE
External SCSI Drive in a Small Beige Case
|
This Drive is All New - Available with a Black, Beige or Red Bezel
This unit features the CF-CARD SCSI Compact Flash card reader/writer drive mounted in a small
plastic external case. This beige case is a nice size at 9.25" L x 6" W x 2" H and weighs only 2.6
pounds. It is brand new, made of hard plastic which is tough enough for use on the road and looks
really nice in your studio as well. In addition to the normal flat positioning, the case can be placed
on its side for use when space is tight.
The CF-CARD is a solid-state Media Card drive that is fully read/write capable, has no moving parts and
makes no noise at all during operation. It has one Compact Flash slot which enables you to use
inexpensive Compact Flash (CF) cards for storage, a media type which has proven the most reliable
for use with SCSI-enabled samplers. The CF-CARD drive is the fastest CF card drive available today, with read and write speeds that have
tested as much as 50% faster than the Microtech PCD drives and 35% faster than the Spyrus
MCDISK/MCDISK-2 drives. The CF-CARD is very close to SCSI Hard Drive speed.
These drives accept a Type I or Type II Compact Flash card directly - no PCMCIA adapter needed -
and can use a card with a capacity up to 32GB. How much of any SCSI media that your sampler will
format and use depends upon its operating system capabilities. This information can sometimes be
found in the sampler manual but often times, the manufacturers don't make this info very easy to find
and as a result, there is a lot of misinformation being traded on some of the user forums. For

The CF-CARD drive is not hotswappable, meaning the drive and your sampler must be powered
down in order to change CF cards. But since the CF-CARD card reader drive can access larger capacity
compact flash cards than most other card readers, our customers have reported this as not too much of
a problem and something they get used to rather quickly.
Features include two SCSI-1 Centronics 50-pin connectors so that you may daisy-chain this drive to
other SCSI devices, and a SCSI ID selector switch that allows you to easily change the SCSI ID number
of the drive. The unit has a small side-mounted cooling fan but since this fan is not needed for the
CF-CARD drive, it has been disabled. It can easily be re-enabled should you ever desire to do so.
The drive is shipped with internal active termination enabled so no terminator plug is needed.

termination disabled - just make a note of this preference when you place your order.

version 1.14 installed. If you do not have 1.14, you will need to install it in order to use compact
flash cards larger than 1GB in capacity. You can get the 1.14 version
here and if you don't have a way to install it, contact
us for assistance.
